Lake Barkley State Resort Park is west of Cadiz, Kentucky, and centrally located for family members traveling from the east coast, Texas, Illinois, and elsewhere in the U.S. Cadiz is located on I-24 in western Kentucky about 40-minutes south of Princeton, and approximately 1 ½ hour drive north-west of Nashville, Tennessee. The park is secluded and in a heavily wooded area of western Kentucky where you can enjoy yourself and get away from all the stresses of everyday life. There are lots of recreational activities and there’s something for everyone in the family. The old Kevil Family Cemetery south of Princeton is about a 45-minute drive north of Lake Barkley. While you’re in the area, try visiting Opryland in Nashville and Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. If you plan on flying, take Southwest Air into the Nashville Airport and a rental car from the airport to Lake Barkley State Resort Park. There will be an informal get acquainted dinner on Thursday night, and family sit-down dinners on both Friday and Saturday nights. I’m currently negotiating with the chef at Lake Barkley to use recipes from the Kevil Family Cookbook for dinner Saturday night. We will have a fishing tournament and a "scramble" best-ball golf tournament on Saturday. Awards will be given at the Saturday night dinner for the biggest fish or fish story and the best and worst golf scores. We will also have updated copies of the Kevil genealogy report available, names tags and commerative pins. Mark August 3-6, 2006 on your calendar, and save some vacation days in order to attend the Kevil Family Reunion. Learn about the Kevil family history, heritage and genealogy, and enjoy yourself with other Kevil family members from across the country.
