Cleveland County History

Named for President Grover Cleveland. It was created in 1889 from unassigned lands.
Cleveland County is a large county which includes parts of Oklahoma City, Moore, Norman, Noble, among others.

Moore's Post Office was established May, 27, 1889 and discontinued January 7, 1972
to become a branch of the Oklahoma City Post Office.
The city was named for Al Moore, a Santa Fe Railway conducter.
The original railroad name was Verbeck.

Norman is the County Seat of Cleveland County. The Post Office was established on May 27, 1889.
It took it's name from Norman Switch, established by the Santa Fe Railway at the site of Camp Norman named for Aubrey Norman, surveyer.
Noble was named for John W, Noble, secretary of the interior under
President Benjamin Harrison.
The Post office was established June 18, 1889. Noble is just 7 miles southeast of Norman.
